A Sunday “Gathering” — One of Many

For all your “Foodies” in the group, the menu was vast and intricate. They enjoyed the avocado toast, organic of course (and what isn’t in Heaven..), with a wild omelette tucked with 3 cheeses of choice, onions, peppers, beans, rice and 4 salsas on the side, vanilla french toast, bacon and sausage and heaven-fries that were truly heavenly.

Alex started the conversation giving cheers to Ken Jennings for doing such an excellent job with Jeopardy. They all agreed that Ken was the “real deal” for the show. They loved his genius spontaneity and true connection with the contestants. Alex watched everyday and always said: “you‘re welcome” at the end after Ken thanked him; Rush, Martin and John agreed. They loved the show as well.

“How strange that IT people have become doctors and comedians have become politicians and journalists have become activists and social media has become the new government.”

“It’s peculiar. I didn’t think it would move this way and I truly believed that the August 28th March was going to be a change for the world but it didn’t work that way.

We all believed in what we were doing. Half the world loved us and half the world hated us, well maybe, not you Alex.”

“Ah, the advantages of being an Independent!”

“They need to get out of their own way; there is too much sadness and fear and unrest and they need to find a way through the tunnel of this chaos.”

“You’re right, Rush. It was almost easier back when I was President. There wasn’t as much hatred between the Left and the Right but maybe I had blinders on, too.

Everything was different back then. Our causes were pure, well maybe not 100% but more transparent than they are now, like the Labor Unions fighting for the cause of the Workers and nothing else. It’s very different now, isn’t it?”

“The Unions of the 70’s are not the Unions of 2021.”

“Let’s give cheers to the world and continue to pray for peace. The sadness and fear can be defeated but they must find their way. They’ve done this to each other and while the goals may have been visionary and sometimes even genius, I am not confident they have been altruistic.

We pray for a better day. I will be watchful and pray for them.

I see Brunch was another winner! Let’s get those golf carts ready and the 4 of you will sing your praises through the peaceful winds and we will rejoice in the day!”

The world will have a better tomorrow.
